The Ecstasies Above: Tenth Anniversary Concert Celebration

sounding light sings heavenly music in the glorious acoustics of its original home, Birmingham’s First Presbyterian Church, in culmination of its tenth anniversary season. The audience will be transported by Bach’s sublime motet, Jesu, meine freude, and folk hymns and spirituals, including the world premiere of a new Amazing Grace by Cleveland composer Anne Wilson. Alumni members from sounding light’s first decade return to join the current choir in beloved, otherworldly music including heavenly strains from Brahms’ German Requiem, Parry’s Blest Pair of Sirens. The angelic voices of sounding light will give us all a glimpse of the ecstasies above.
